We recently completed this tack room for one of our returning farm clients. Originally, she hired a contractor to extend a room on her barn to match the existing exterior. They were only capable of completing framing, interior paint, some electrical, and part of the kitchen cabinet install. Unfortunately they filed bankruptcy while on the project and walked away, leaving our customer without help.
We wanted her to have that dream tack room she hoped for. We decided this would be a fun and fulfilling project to take on. Inside, she requested a full kitchen and bar area, some of which was partially installed. She also wanted a few custom cabinets that would give storage for her equipment. These cabinets would also work as an open area for easy sight and access.
Going into this build our client knew what she wanted, but we didn’t exactly have plans and measurements for everything. Together we scheduled a few on site walks and started making notes. This was to make sure measurements worked with the products going in the cabinetry, besides the room area. We discussed material options and discussed the pros and cons for each build, finding compromise.
The project took us about 3 weeks in total. During this project we also started game planning the cabinetry at the entry side of the barn. We were asked to build out areas making them more effective for the routines of the barn. The wash rack got an upgraded shelf system and new drain areas, so water can no longer get trapped. The entry area of the barn also got upgrades with cabinetry and an outdoor sink station, making it more effective.
This project was fulfilling for both of us, and the client. She finally has her space and it also serves a great purpose on her farm.
